Managing a linux server

I have recently purchased a linux root server from a hosting company. It has come with Plesk 6 pre-installed, which I am quite familiar with. But I'm not that adept at managing a linux server running RedHat Linux 7.2 (configuring backups, installing firewalls etc.). Given time i'll figure everything out, but  I need a fast track education on managing my root server remotely from a windows environment. Any help or resources will be welcome

A good place to start is Webmin. (http://www.webmin.com).  Make sure you use SSL, and set up a non - root account to use webmin with.  Also, lock down access by IP address. Only access it remotely using VPN. Change the port number. Verify you have the latest version. And so on. I think you will find it very helpful for system maintenance.
