Hey, How do I send a string of characters to the modem?  I'm trying to write a point of sale program and I want to open a cash draw that connects via telephone wire RJ11 or whatever.

Check out http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnfiles/html/msdn_serial.asp ("Serial Communications in Win32"). It comes with a sample that is a multithreaded version of HyperTerminal.
