spiders and frames

Hi,

Can someone tell me if search engines will spider a site fully if it has frames. That is, will it spider all the frames on a webpage automatically?

Someone told me it could be a problem. If it is, are there ways around it - or ways to direct the spider to a particular frame

Thanks

I've seen plenty of framed sites indexed in google and I'd be very surprised if it was a problem, but google's probably got the best spider (you'd be surprised at the extent it goes to to crawl your site!)

Here are some good tips:

Of course, it all depends on what engine we're talking about, so if you're dead paranoid about getting indexed everywhere, do everything you can to optimise it. But I wouldn't bother actually changing the way you lay your site out just for a few search engines.
