spiders and frames

Hi,

Can someone tell me if search engines will spider a site fully if it has frames. That is, will it spider all the frames on a webpage automatically?

Someone told me it could be a problem. If it is, are there ways around it - or ways to direct the spider to a particular frame

I've seen plenty of framed sites indexed in google and I'd be very surprised if it was a problem, but google's probably got the best spider (you'd be surprised at the extent it goes to to crawl your site!)

Of course, it all depends on what engine we're talking about, so if you're dead paranoid about getting indexed everywhere, do everything you can to optimise it. But I wouldn't bother actually changing the way you lay your site out just for a few search engines.
