Athlon mobile processor

I just bought an HP with an Athlon mobile processor 2500+ 1.87ghz. I think it is running a little slugish. I stopped all the services and backgroud programs running that I could. I ran a few "CPU speed tests" on various machines. My new laptop says 530mhz. An old 1.2ghz duron desktop said 1.2. My pentium 4 1.8 deskop said 1.79 Should my athlon mobile be saying it has a clock speed of 500-530 mhz according to these tests?!?!?!?!?! or do I have a problem?

Thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's great that this battery last four hours when I'm out and about. However, I run a couple of Audio processing programs that run so much smoother when I turn PowerNow off by changing the power scheme to always on. This also allows it to show my real clock speed. I was going nutz with my brand new $1500 laptop that was causing more audio clicks and hiccups than a celeron 1.0ghz. Your a lifesaver!!!!!
Glad to help chuckbeats ;-)
