What OS is the Mac running? If it's running OS X have you turned on windows file sharing in the sharing control panel?

If windows file sharing is turned on the Mac should show up in the windows network neighborhood.
You can go the other way as well. Share a volume on the windows machine, with a name less than 8 characters, and itll show up in the Mac's network window.
