Outlook Username Conflict??

I am configuring Outlook XP on a laptop running Windows XP.  When I try to open Outlook after adding the account, I can see the users mailbox but I can't open it, I get an stop message 'Unable to Expand Folder'.  I also get a message after that 'Cannot start the reminder service.  Unable to show reminders'.  This user is able to retrieve mail if he logs on to one of our Terminal Servers using Citrix, connecting to an Exchange 5.5 box and it works fine then. If I install Outlook 98 on this laptop it works fine too.  I have added the latest Office service pack but no luck.  Also, the users surname is 'service' and I am now wondering if its got anything to do with that.  I have created a fictional user with the surname service2 and the same problem occurs.

Suggestions are very welcome!

Hi,
Its an exchange mailbox, our users generally only use .pst files when they are thick clients and can store the pst file locally.
We have lots of thin clients and also lots of laptop users (as thick clients) who use mail this way and it has always worked fine, thats why I was wondering if it had anything to do with the users name (service)?

Thanks,

Trish

Interesting.  I haven't heard of such a problem.  Others may have though.

Have you tried to setup a profile to access your own mailbox on that laptop to narrow down the problem?
