Hi,

I have a this animation that is "942.645 kb" I tried to copy it into a regular CD-R. When I tried it, it gave me a message saying that the file is to big for that 700mb CD-R.

1. Picture of the Movie file that needs to be split into two....

I was then told to get WinRar and extract them.

2. Picture of the Movie File in WinRar...

What I needed help on right now is how do I use this program to extract that Ninja Scroll file so that it would split the film into two part so I can Copy them into two separate disk.

Try using a program called "Master Splitter".

You have many options to do this:

1st option is to get Virtual Dub as Equinox said

2nd option is to get Ifilmedit which also splits video
http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/ifilmedit.html

3rd option is to Easy Movie Splitter
http://www.sofotex.com/Easy-Movie-Splitter-download_L16756.html

U can also use TMPGenc and go to File > MPeg Tools
http://www.tmpgenc.net/e_main.html

All these options are great for splitting movies to fit onto 2 cds.  GOod Luck

Win rar  (like win zip) has a function called "split file" look in the options settings.  You can control how you want it to split the file up.

Go to options and settings.

You cannot split with Winrar and then play the video. If you burn those two files onto a CD, you'll have to copy them both back onto a harddisk, extract (it will the recreate the big file) and then you can watch it again. If you want to split the video so it can be viewed from the Cds you'll have to use one of the tools mentioned above like VirtualDub for example. These programs can split videos into smaller ones.

is correct.  WinRar is for storage purposes mostly.  If you want to play directly from cd you have to use a special video tool.

I tried splitting a video once into several pieces (for viewing seperately).  The tool I used made it easy (the name escapes me currently), BUT the second file's sound track was off by half a second.  Not much of a difference, in fact I didn't catch that until the second time I watched the video!

But after I saw it once, I couldn't NOT see it.  I was a bit irritated that the lip movements didn't match the sound.

Mind you I did this three or four years ago with a third rate tool, so you may not have that problem.... but it's something to look out for.

Also....  have you thought about doing a little video compression?

I know there are tools out there that allow you to compress the playable video a bit.   Obviously you will loose some clarity, but dropping 1/9 quality might not even be noticable.
