Track how long a page was viewed?

I have pages that have multimedia presentations on them.  This includes audio/video powerpoint style presentations.  I would like to know how I can insert code only onto these pages to see how many people watch them, when they watched them and how long they stayed on for.  Is there a good way to do this?  I am using CFMX 6.1 and SQL 2000.

Well you can track how many people clicked on the page, how manu people clicked on the file, but not how long they stayed for.

You can sort of get an estimate if you have something in the background submitting a "still here" and then when you stop getting that message you know they have left or are no longer viewing the page.

The problem is that you are trying to measure time on the client's machine.  SInce all of the action is taking place on the client's machine you need some way to communicate back to the server that they are still watching.

THis is complicated because a method like constantly submitting a "still here" uses their bandwidth up and they may not like that.

Also it may make people nervous who monitor traffic and see things constatnly being sent from their machine.

I would stick with just monitoring how many people are on your page and which presentaions they view.

You could do a survey and ask them to give you an estimate of how long they viewed your site as an alternate.
