Outlook Express Automatic BCC or CC
Is there any way to create an automatic BCC or CC in MS Outlook Express (at least for Version 6)? BCC is preferable. I need to be able to configure OE to send a BCC or CC for every outgoing email to a specific email address for backup purposes. I would like to be able to turn this feature on or off fairly easily.
This is easy in Outlook - there are some 3rd party programs, VB solutions, as well as the more complicated option of creating a custom form and saving it as a default template. However, the programs aren't compatible with OE, and I don't know how to extend OE with VB or custom forms, nor do I know if that's even possible. I would prefer an easy and "consumer friendly" solution because I need to provide it to my customers (I won't be implementing it for them, either, they'll be doing it themselves so I'd like it to be bullet proof and simple).

I donot think outlook express is sophisticated enough to do that kind of job. You can however get 3rd party programs that are limited for OE anyway ..
But what you can do ( if it would work for you) , do automatic forwarding email using rules
like this
Condition: Where the From line contains people - enter his friend's email addresses
Action: Forward it to people - enter the email address you want it to sent to

I searched the web for automated 3rd party OE programs that did this but couldn't find any. Doesn't the automatic forwarding rule apply to Incoming Messages only? It didn't looked to me like the Message Rules applied to Outgoing messages.
Outlook express does these rules to incoming mail messages. If you try to create a new rule you would see
this "Apply this rule after the message arrives" so it only for incoming messages .

Right .. that won't work for me. I need to BCC new messages.
I would guess OE can process rules on incoming mails only
You should be able to do it in outlook as it is much more powerful

I know that, but I can't control which email program my customers choose to use, and the only email program that doesn't seem to have a workable solution is Outlook Express. Outlook, Netscape, Eudora, Pegasus - all have reasonably simple (and some have built-in) solutions.
You have to explain to your customers that outlook express is not powerful enough to do that and that Outlook can you.
I can very well understand your concern but if something cannot be done easily or even cannot be done at all , there should be a tradeoff here..Right..

Although I'd like to be able to direct my customers to particular products, that's not a realistic solution. Many of them are so computer illiterate that they know the name of their email client, but that's about it. The goal of this project is to give them a convenient, simple and transparent solution, not force them to learn something new ... not to mention all the issues involved in transitioning from one email client to another. As a vendor, I need to address their needs as much as I can, not require that they change to meet my requirements. I've located one product that provides OE templates, but it's not an automated (read that "default") process. It looks like that may be the best I can hope for with OE. Too bad ... a lot of people use it by default. It's odd that MS would produce such an inflexible product.

I solved this problem myself with the help of a commercial vendor, AJ Systems. Al Price has a product called "Quick Tools for Outlook Express" - http://www.ajsystems.com. I contacted him, and after some email exchange, he undertook to modify his Quick Tools to support an automatic blind carbon copy feature. Thanks, Al.
