Strange one.

When you open My Computer, and click the folders button, the panel appears on the left hand side of the window, with the X to close it, but no folder list, just a grey panel. Happens for all users/administrators, in Terminal Server/Console.

I have seen similar things with other programs (Internet Explorer About Box), and it was a unregistered dll causing the issue. I suspect a similar cause, but wouldn't know where to start looking for the culprit.

Cheers.

Hello,
I have had this problem before and I was able to follow this link and correct it.

http://forums.techguy.org/showthread.php?threadid=113867&

or you can copy/paste this into notepad and save it as a .reg file
Good Luck and let us know how it turns out!
Be sure to backup the reg keys that this will affect.

This worked for me also, had the same problem and suspect a MS Security update caused the problem
