Greetings!

Fortunately I purchased a used, legal version of 3D Studio Max release 3.
Unfortunately the CD was 'cracked' (physically, that is!)
Fortunately there was also the factory back-up disc.
Fortunately it installed OK and works fine.
Unfortunately the back-up has neither the help file, the tutorials and some other goodies. I'd particularly like to get a Help file.
Unfortunately, contrary to expectations, Kinetix hasn't been of any help to this point.
Fortunately I have the EXPERTS to call on for help.
"HELP!!!!!!"

Regards,

Pete

PS   OK, OK I know it's supposed to be 'fortunately/unforotunately' all the way throuhg but I'm just not that linear!  :)

I'm also not a good typist (or perhaps just a bad speller!)

One thing you could do is order a free trial cd of max 5 and most of the help files included will be aplicable to 3ds max 3. even after the trial expires (30 daays) you will still be able to open th e help files.

Hello j3one!

Sorry to be so slow responding. I did not receive the customary email indicating that a comment had been added to my question.

In fact, your idea is a good one. I have a 'used' trial version of AutoCAD VIZ. The trial time had expired, but I was still able to re-load it and access the Help File plus some textures. It's not exactly the same, but it's got a lot of similarities.  Naturally, I'd like to be able to get what's on the original Max 3 disc, so I'll keep the question open a little longer to see if there are any other suggestions. Hope you don't mind!  :))

Thanks again,

Pete

Hello again 3jone!

Well, as I said above - it's only a limited help to my problem. Perhaps a Max 6 demo would be similar? Too much difference with the old R3?

Anyway, I'm going to try a low points pointe question in a different category to see if I can get any other help. If I don't get something better in a few days I'll award you the points.

Regards,

Pete
