You dont. You add a font to your system. Either Windows, OS X, OS 9, Linux etc. Those fonts are added to your fonts folder for the system. Same place you'd put any other font. I think windows still requires a restart to recognize fonts.

Thanks, I had already added the font but didn't realize XP needed a restart to recognize it!  I don't usually deal with installing fonts so I won't be too hard on myself ;-)

Actually, you don't have to restart XP to install a font (TrueType anyway).  However, you may have to restart your application.  Whenever I'm working in Photoshop and need a font, I switch to my font viewing tool (AMP Font Viewer, install the font I want, then "refresh" the font listing in Photoshop by closing and reopening the font list.  I usually do not have to restart Photoshop (I use version 7).

I have tested a lot of font viewers, and I like AMP Font Viewer the best - and it's FREE!  Hope this helps...
You cannot add a font to photoshop, you can only install it in your System (windows?)
My advice is if do grpahic on higher than just "for fun" level you can consider to install a program like Adobe Type Manager, which will help you to manage your fonts almost on the fly.
