address without an e-mail address not displaying

Hello,

I am really annoyed at Outlook right now.  Anyways, here is the problem:

When I enter a contact into Outlook 2003 address book without entering an e-mail, I can not find it again.  I can see it in the export from the address book and if I try to create a new address with the same exact name then I am promoted to update or overwrite it.

Is there anyway to get addresses to display in the address book if they don't have e-mail addresses?

Are you sure it cannot be done ?

I am able to do that in outlook 2002.

Open contacts
go to new
in the full name give some name "testing name"
click "save and close" and it will ask you suffix.Give some suffix and press OK

Now go to view ---> current view ---> address cards
Now in the list that you see , check for your name..

Post back doing this

I am sure I have the problem.

Actually happens on 2 systems I have.  One at work and my laptop.

When you view your addressbook, what fields are displayed automatically? I mean in the view of all the addresses?

OK I am under view ---> current view ---> address cards
You go to the same location

Then go to view ---> current view ---> customize current view
click on fields
move the items that you want to display from left to right and press OK

Now come out of that window and check if you are able to see Name in the address cards view

Ahh,

You solved my problem!

As it turns out, I can see all of the contacts if I press the Contacts Icon.

I was using "Tools-->Address Book" before.  The address book that comes up via "Tools-->Address Book" does not display addresses without an e-mail address.  But I bet that the Outlook designers thought this would only be used to send e-mails  and the contacts icon would be used to get  everything else.

Thanks and points are your.

Hey, do you get anything for the points?

I am just curious to know why you had given  my C grade when you had got the perfect solution ??

Well,

You did not answer the question.   I did.  But your comments lead me to the solution or rather a work around.

If you had stated:

"The address book from the tools menu does not display addresses that don't contain e-mail addresses, but you can see all of the addresses via the contact icon"

Then I would have given you an A+.
