I have a book that I bought to study up for my A+ which is quite good.  It is called A+ Certification by Osborne Press.  When you have finished going through that and practicing what you have learned you will be able to take your A+ exam.
There are several books you can find for this certification. I would suggest going to www.amazon.com and find a current book on the latest exam. I suggest also to got the www.comptia.org and look at the latest exam objectives so that you would know what to study.Remeber, the best study in hands-on so try to find used books on computer repair from amazon, and have an old computer on hand to try some of the examples. The major part of the A+ exam is troubleshooting. You should have a clear understanding of the hardware/software and overall troubleshooting before attempting to take the exam.
