Playstation 2 -> Internet connection trouble.
I have a Playstation 2 (with a Network Adapter), a BT Voyager105 USB ADSL modem and an iMac. The ethernet cable supplied with the Network Adapter is not compatable with the modem as the modem is USB. Apparently we have 3 options:
1) (Crossover) ethernet cable from the Network Adapter to the iMac. Then configure network and sharing settings.
2) Use a router.
3) Buy an ethernet modem.
We tried the first option but could not configure properly and the ethernet port did not recognise the cable.
We then purchased a 'Sitecom Wireless Network Broadband Router'. We connected the ethernet cable from the Playstation to the router, and another ethernet cable from the router to the iMac. The problem is, there is no internet signal recognised although we have set up internet sharing in System Preferences.
We have tried everything we can think of apart from directly replacing the modem. Is this the only answer?

Do you mean to replace the modem? The router was not supplied by our ISP.

Thanks you for suggestion F E. Unable to change modem at present (Easter) but should be able to sort on Tuesday. When I know more, will be back

Thanks FE. Its sorted! Had to change what we were sold three times..nobody in London area knew what we were talking about. Up and running now. Son is happy Bunny!
