I had asked the question since I had a corrupted QEL file and I wanted to know what I might have lost and whether I should go back to a backup. What I found, experimentally, was that the QEL file has all the information related to online activities. I had to reenter all the data, but my financial information is intact.

Unfortunately, none of the references explained the function the QEL files provide to the Quicken application. The closest is Sunnycoder's <br />
