Is it possibe to use a .exe file as a screen saver?  I would like to have a screen saver that uses some home-grown validation by accessing a sql server database.

What you can do is rename the .exe a .scr

Seeing as .scrs are executeables, this should work, you just need to put in the screensavers folder.

TIP: You see, this is how you can gain admin access to an NT system too, after a while, a login screensaver is run, so if we rename cmd.exe to the login screensaver, we can access a command prompt!

Warning: This is also how viruses work, so watch out if you recieve any .scr files  as attachements!
