Parameter value in aps/frontpage page

This is most probably a very dumb question:

I have a webpage with address:
http://server/directory/detail.asp?DL=767

This page is called by a previous page hyperlink and the DL is a generated in this previous page.

My question: how can I use the value of DL (767) in the detail.asp page, put it in a variable so I can do some stuff with it (in VB).

To store the variable just do the following:

In the detail.asp page place the following at the top of the page (in html view):

<% var1 = request.querystring("DL") %>

Now you have the value stored in var1 and you can use it as you please.
