EPSON Stylus Color 777 - cartridge carrier out of sync?

After removing a paper jam, during which I did some manual repositioning of the cartridge carrier, the position of the carrier seems to be out of sync.

When I press the flashing button, it travels to the end and makes a loud noise like the belt is trying to move it farther.

Turn the printer off, and try to position the head roughly in the correct parked position.  You will feel a little "slack" when it is in the right position, with resistance either side.  Turn on, if it still bangs on the side, try again, but not too many times.  If you can start it without grinding, then try a head clean.  That usually recalibrates the head position.  If none of this works, you will have to undo the cover, and adjust the head position on the belt.

Yes the head clean seemed to do the trick. Thanks a lot.
