i am doing a project on Visual C++. the objective is to create a windows application that will search the Local Area Network and then display all the computers currently connected on the network along with their IP addresses. Moreover, the application should also show the number of switches in the network and also show that which computers are connected to a particular switch. If anyone knows that if this has already been implemented, then kindly tell me where can i find this source code. or if this hasnt been implemented, then please tell me how can this be done.

you can use WNetOpenEnum to list all the resources in your network
here is a very good example on how to use it .... http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/wnet/wnet/enumerating_network_resources.asp
