Anyone got any stats or way to work out how quick I can suck the data off a SQL2000 server using the latest BackupExec agent? It's over a 2Gb san to an array of LTOs so the agent performance is where I think the bottleneck will be. Is there some kind of select statement I can run locally to get an estimate of the speed?

Depending on what backup software you use, you should be able to do a test run which does exactly the same as a backup, but without physically writing the data.

I use Veritas, it's the quickest i've used.
