automate search assistant from batch file or other application?

I would like to search a cdrom with user specific search words from a multimedia app.
I can write out a batch file at runtime

Is there a way to open the windows search assistant [search:files and folders] from a batch file with the search options prefilled e.g.

search files/folders named: *.doc *.txt *.xls
containing txt: user entered search terms
Look in: e.g. H:

and start the search

What do you want to do with the results just display them?

yes, just display them in the default search results window.

I can find nothing on this sorry, a simple dir /s will not work?

As long as none of the data in the files to be searched is encrypted, you can do this using only the builtin command set using "SET /P" to get the input strings and then FindStr.exe to search.
