Hmm havent tried the gnome terminal , is it a standalone program or you need to have &quot;gnome&quot; installed for it , in that case it would suffer from the same problem as &quot;konsole&quot; has with reg to KDE.<br />

You have the simlar with just the console if you type alt+F1|F2|F3 etc you have multiple consoles.<br />
A secondalternative is to change windowmanager to a one with just console windows and multiple desktops, that requires less cpu/memory.<br />

I have been using konsole and i love it. But I want to do away with KDE completely , right now i use blackbox but when i try to run konsole all sorts of kde services are also loaded. <br />
<br />
so what I am looking for is a terminal program similar to &quot;konsole&quot; with tabbed windows etc. <br />
