Can you recommend a linux project with the following features:

- with the standard feautres of a broadband router (something like: www.smoothwall.org) and
- html based user authentication, with traffic monitoring by user

Please include home page!
I am not a linux expert, so just suggest ready made solutions, with easy installation. (I know Squid can do it, but i do not want to spend time learning it.)
Presumambly free, or max around USD 200.

Nothing in linux comes easy, you have to brute force everything so just get used to have to lern stuff.

And if you want some thing for free and some proxy that is highly configurable you have to lern eventualy anyway.

I vote for squid its easy and caching but have one draw back its just for www.

I am not against learning, just don't have much time, nowadays.
With smoothwall (for example) you get an installation cd, and the setup can be easily done via a web interface.
This is something I am looking for...
With squid, you have to install a linux distribution, than squid (and other components), set it up and taking care of every component.

Oki you just want an linux proxy not the advantage/dissadvantage of the hole operating system.
Then you have
http://www.zelow.no/floppyfw/
there is links to simlair programs that fits on one diskette and just need minimum hardware to run as proxy router etc.

Simple, centralized multimedia control

Watch and learn to see how ATEN provided an easy and effective way for three jointly-owned pubs to control the 60 televisions located across their three venues utilizing the ATEN Control System, Modular Matrix Switch and HDBaseT extenders.

ClarkConnect from www.clarkconnect.org seems to have routing and firewalling capabilitys combined.  However I am going by an article I read in a magazine and have not actualy tryed this product.

Seems to offer a home users free version as well as the office version which costs.  Now besides the excelent review given in my magazine,  I cannot actualy verify it has the Routing, or the web interface you request.
