To save mails ? the mail you send ?
There are a simple way. The mail is an object (MailMessage) and so you can easily serialize it with an XmlSerializer into a file

And to get mail, nothing has been implemented. You have to work directly with Sockets and to decode the mail format.
I have a very intersting link at work... if you can wait till monday...

It is in C# but it can be easily translated in VB.NET
