Hi,

I originally used Microsoft Outlook Express to check my email (account from my ISP). When i open it, Outlook Express automatically downloads any incoming emails. Today when i try to check my email outlook express shows an email being recieved (not fully recieved) and restarts the pc. As i have Microsoft Office 2003 installed i thought i'd create the same account there and try downloading the email into that, again when recieving the email the PC restarts.

Could this be a virus within the email? Or something else? How can i get rid of this? Is there anyway of checking that particular email externally before it starts downloading onto my PC?

If someone could help me i'd be very greatful as i cant check my email anymore

Hi Zephyr__,
> to check my email (account from my ISP).

Check with your ISP if you can check their email going to their website. If yes, then you can go to the website and check what email is getting downloaded and delete it there itself even before it gets downloaded to your machine.

Apart from that , you can also start scanning your system for virus. Make sure all emails are also clean of virus.

When it restarts the PC , does it give any error message ?

Is your system functioning normally apart from this issue?

Thanks

Ok Have you checked with your ISP about deleting the email going to their website

So does this problem recently start or happening for a long time or only now you have actually started downloading messages in OE ?

Have you tried recreating the email account and checked if it would work ?

Do you already have emails in your OE and started this account recently ?

So everytime you download this email , your PC restarts. So after that when you come back , it happens again ..is it not ?

Sunray, i went onto my ISP website and they did infact have a way of accessing my email from webpages.

I checked it and someone had sent me an email with many attachments and very large file names for those attachments. I deleted the email from the website version, checked my email from outlook express and everything seems to function well again.

Thanks for suggesting your idea, i would have never of thought of it, really appreciated.

Thanks,
Zephyr.
