Thanks

Hi rossh1977!

There are several ways to do this and I haven't seen any specific application that does this. The principle is though that you will have to export all the tables and data from the 4th Dimension database and the import it into e.g. mysql. This can be done in several ways, is there a way to export all the data and structure from the 4thD db? If so the best way would be to export the table-structures as well as the data as SQL which you later can run on any database of your choosing.

If can't do this th ebest way is to export the data in the various tables into comma-separated text-files which you can use to import into e.g. mySQL. Later you can import it to mySQL and export it through various GUIs into a file with SQL-commands. As you maybe know, SQL is the standardized language for dealing with databases - and different versions (only some small variations in syntax) SQL work on I dare to say ALL dbms'.

To sum up, if you don't manage to complete all steps by yourself, I will be happy to help you if you in some way can export the data from your 4th Dimension db. Then the rest will be a piece of cake... =o)

I hope you understand the direction i tried to point out in order to solve your problem,
//jan
