Is there no problems with adding an win2k3 server to an existing AD win2k domain , I assume as long as it is a member and no AD installed on win2k3 box??

If the server is a pure memeber server, then install away. It won't have any problems

If you want to make the 2003 a dc then simply running /forestprep and /domainprep before running DCpromo.

It all runs very smoothly.
