qmgr0.dat and qmgr1.dat in use

Hi,

when doing a backup every night on one of our W2K servers qmgr0.dat and qmgr1.dat are always in use.. I understand these two files are used by the "Background Inteligent Transfer service" and i can solve the problem by disabling this service...

How have other people got round this problem? Is it sensible to just disable this service on W2K server machines?
