I'm trying to add a subkey into
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root.
No matter how do I do it, through importing a .reg file, or through regedit manually, i'm getting "Error accessing the registry" (.reg) or "Cannot create key: Error while opening the key Root"

I'm the member of local "Administrators" and "Domain Admins"

How can I fix this ?  and second, CAN I do it remotely ?

Thanks a lot !

Use Regdt32

Default permission on the HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root key are:
Everyone > Read
System > Full Control and Read

So Administrators have no write rights on this Key.

You should right click the root key > permissions > and add your user or the Administrators group and grant them Full Control permissions.

HOWEVER- you can do as corneliup suggested, but a BETTER way to get information into this key is to INSTALL HARDWARE.
this is a VERY DANGEROUS area of the registry to be making mistakes.
