I have solved this problem by scripting the existing role, changing the name, executing the script and dropping the previous role.

I need to rename a role in a database.<br />

I could not find how using the BOL.<br />

Is this possible?<br />

This role has extensive premissions over hundreds of tables so if at all possible I do not want to simply create a new role with the new name and hope I click the appropriate permissions.<br />

Rename DB Role?
