I need to rename a role in a database.

I could not find how using the BOL.

Is this possible?

This role has extensive premissions over hundreds of tables so if at all possible I do not want to simply create a new role with the new name and hope I click the appropriate permissions.

Thanks for the help.

SQL Server 2000.

I have solved this problem by scripting the existing role, changing the name, executing the script and dropping the previous role.
