Hello to all the experts, I really need some help with my Oracle 8i installation.  Here is my information.

OS:  hpux-11.11 U 9000/785
Kernel:  64-bit
File System:  Enhanced Journaled File System (JFS-2)

/SD_CDROM/runInstaller

First I get "NFS server not responding still trying" then it says NFS server ok, "Pid killed due to text modification or page I/O error.

NFS is running.  rpc.statd is running, rpc.mountd is running.

Thanks in advance

Hello,
I've found the following info on metalink that sounds like your case:
"Are you trying to do a remote installation? .. ie.. have you mounted the cdrom in some other server and trying the installation?.

On HP-UX, you can get this error when using NFS mounted file systems.HP-UX responds this way if it tries to swap in a page and does not get a response from the server within a timeout whose default value is just ten seconds.

Please try to do the install from the server by copying the software from the CDROM to the local disk. "

I tried copying the files from the CDROM to the local disk, but it failed after a few minutes.  Same error message "NFS server not responding" it only copied a few files in the new local directory.  Is the problem with NFS settings or the CDROM?

I finally copied the installation disks to the local disk.  Now when I run ./runInstaller I get ./runInstaller [35]:  cannot execute

I'm using "oracle" as the user. oracle is the owner of all the files and directories.  Also changed the file to +x.  Still getting cannot execute.
