Error Source : Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server

Error Description : Could not find server '' in sysservers. Execute sp_addlinkedserver to add the server to sysservers.

I am getting this error when I try and create a lookup for a data transformation in a DTS package. The lookup is needed on the local server. At a point in the past this machine has been renamed, which may have caused the problem, and if I had more time I would rebuild the system as it needs it anyway. However, it is not possible now and I need to have this DTS package created and tested ASAP.

Whats causing the error, how do I solve it so that I can create a Lookup on the local machine. Currently I can make the lookup, and it works ok, but this error does not bode well for future performance.

Cheers

Hi

You need to add the server name in master..sysservers.  Use sp_addserver

sp_addserver 'servername', 'local'

Use query analyzer, this is a one time setting to correct the sysserver entry to recogzine your server.
