Printing Reports Only Once

Hi!

I have a Filemaker database comprised of patient surveys for a hospital.  These surveys measure how patients rank various aspects of their hospital experience and provide biographical data (average age, gender, etc...).

When I print this 3-page report (using Print Preview), I actually get a resulting printout of 3,000 (three thousand) pages!!  It seems that Filemaker wants to print out one copy of this summary report for each record (there are 1,000 records in the databaes).

How can I tell Filemaker to print only ONE copy of this report (without selecting the range of pages 1 to 3 every time I print)?

Any information you might have would be MOST appreciated!

Best regards

That's normal: did you specify to print all records or just the current one (first information in print dialog box)?
otherwise, you can search all records for a given patient before printing

I can understand this if I asked Filemaker to print forms (which are directly linked to records).

However, I have a Layout Report which ONLY analyses the aggregate responses of patients.

For example, of 1,000 patients surveyed, the average responses of the following are:

Sufficient information given: 3.2
Quality of meals:                 3.4

Total:                                 3.3

(Where patient responses are ranked 1 to 5, where 1 is bad and 5 is good)

For this layout, I would expect to see ONE 3-page printout based on these aggregate responses.

Rather, I get 3,000 (3* 1,000)

However, I have a similar report which analyses patient responses by month--and this prints only one report per month (i.e. over 5 months, I get 3*5 or 15 pages)

I solved my own problem.  The Layout was defined as "Body" on Part Setup--and should have been "Grand Summary"
