changing from internal to external modem on a laptop

I want to add an external modem to my laptop which has an internal one.How can I configure it to accept both so I can use either one?

Assuming your modems play nicely with each other and the rest of the laptop, create two dialup icons, When you go through the connection wizard it asks you to specify which modem to use.

They both work fine so long I disable the one I don't use at the time.
