I have a Win2k Server with W2k pro clients. All the client machines run autocad software which needs access to the registry and win system folder to modify files etc.. To enable this functionality i have given all users admin access on the local machines. But that has lead to a host of new porblems. I now need to restrict users to access control panel, install programs etc and yet allow autocad to access registry and system folders. How can i set up a domain policy to achieve this?

Thanks,
AY

As far as I'm aware AutoCad needs to have local admin rights to run properly.

Apparently this has changed in 2004/5 version, check with your supplier. I'll find out in 6 weeks when autocad 2005 is released and we upgrade

Well I know that AutoCad need to have admin permissions, but is there anyway to restrict all other user admin activites and only allow AutoCad application to run as admin.

thanks,

Not in a clean manner, that I'm aware of. It's a complete bugger. I believe of the the desktop team I work with contacted autocam and asked.

Their response was an unhelpful they need full local admin rights or upgrade to the new version (2004/5)
