win 98 slowed down when i started apache (2.0.49) help!

hi. thanks for reading my question.
firstly, i wonder why my pc became so slow(almost to hang) when i started apache. from wat i know, apache monitor's sign should change to green color when apache is running, but then the color of my apache monitor's sign was still red when i started apache.

can any 1 tell wat's wrong with it and how to fix it?
