Hey Guys,

Just a quick question:

Under what circumstances do you embed inline Java in JSP pages?

What are the advantages and disadvantages of embedding inline Java versus not embedding it?

Whats the best JSP editor out there? Freeware?

I can see many of you jumping on the "homework help" thing, please dont. You can see that I've been here for quite a while and just wanna learn.

Thanks to all!

Hi there,

Crimson editor is one of the best editor for JSP...JCreator might be useful for JAVA.

Do you mean to say this inline::java

http://inline.perl.org/java/home.html

Or just embedding java files in a jsp page.

You can embed any valid Java language code inline within a JSP file between the <% and %> tags. Such embedded code is called a scriptlet. If you do not specify the method directive, the generated code becomes the body of the service method.

An advantage of embedding Java coding inline in JSP files is that the servlet does not have to be compiled in advance, and placed on the server. This makes it easier to quickly test servlet coding.

Some tutorials:
http://www-306.ibm.com/software/webservers/appserv/doc/v35/ae/infocenter/was/0402020303.html

Also, Including a JSP file into another can be done in several ways, JSP allows both dynamic and static includes. One example,
<jsp:include page="anyjspfile.jsp" flush="true"/>

Hope this helps...
