Hi all,

I have a dedicated webserver (Windows Server 2003 Standard) which runs its own DNS server for most of the domain names it hosts websites for.  All the websites and DNS entries work fine but I am getting an error EVERY HOUR in the EVENT VIEWER > SYSTEM LOG, the error is:

Event Type:      Warning
Event Source:      LSASRV
Event Category:      SPNEGO (Negotiator)
Event ID:      40961
Date:            4/27/2004
Time:            9:15:43 PM
User:            N/A
Computer:      WWUK
Description:
The Security System could not establish a secured connection with the server DNS/ns1.myHostingCompany.net.  No authentication protocol was available.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Data:
0000: 88 03 00 c0

Does anyone have any idea how I can prevent this?

Thanks

Bob

It looks like your webserever might be trying to register it's DNS record at ns1.myHostingCompany.net

If the DNS settings on the external NIC in the IP stack on this server are pointing to ns1.myHostingCompany.net then you could turn off the setting "register this connection in DNS" for that NIC.

If you need DNS registration on this NIC then you could set the server to point to itslef for DNS and set the DNS service to forward "all other domains" to the DNS server of your ISP.
