how to modify a scrolling text on event

hello
I know to make an horizontal scrolling text(for example with the marquee balise).
But I need to modify the text on an event(for example onclick).
For example with 2 click boxes,clik,clak, with clik the scrolling text is -hello-
and with clak, the scrolling text is -bonjour-
