MSDN

To anyone who uses MSDN to supply their IT needs:

My company is thinking about investing in a subscription in MSDN because of the software updates as well as the wealth of knowledge that will be afforded us for our developers.

For now, my main concern is updating our server to Windows 2003 Server.  A sub concern has arisen, and that is the seating license.  Will the MSDN subscription come with a 30 user license for 2003 Server, or must we purchase additional seats?  Thank you for your time.  I appreciate any insight into this query.

MSDN really isn't a substitue for a volume license agreement.   Typically each product contained within the MSDN license (which included Win2k3 server) has a 10-user license for development purposes only.

Oh sure, there is a fine line between "development" and "production", and I know of many companies who use their 10-user license any way they see fit.  So it really boils down to just how comfortable you are with being in a gray area.
