I am using win2000, and it has been several days that I am not able to access my computer at all.  All it does is keep on dumping physical memory (blue screen) with remark:
STOP: c0000218 {registry file failure}
The registry cannot load the hive
\SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE
or its log or alternate.
It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.

This could be caused by faulty RAM, try going to http://www.memtest86.com/ and downloading the precompiled memtest for windows. When you run the install file it will create a bootable floppy disc which you can put into your PC and allow to check for memory errors. If it shows up any errors it is almost certainly this causing the problem, and you need to replace your memory.
