In the properties of your IIS site under the directory security tab press the "authentication and access control" button and turn on NTLM. Turn off anonymous access and you will be asked for a password.

Then set the site to allow directory browsing and point the root of the site to the root of the directory you would like access to.

Voila you files are displayed over the internet.

Warning: this is NOT secure and can be hacked with brute force attacks so use a strong password or consider setting up a VPN (which I can also help with!)

yes if you view the web site properties, under IIS admin, then select the directory security tab, then press the top Edit button and make sure you tick the second tickbox down, also press the Edit button next to it and enter you Domain name so when you are prompted to logon you do not need to enter the domain name

>>Turn off anonymous access and you will be asked for a password

sorry, correction - Turn off anonymous access and you will be asked for a password WHEN YOU TRY TO ACCESS THE SITE!

You dont need to access IIS Admin to set this up. IIS Admin is a seperate web site for administering other portions of the IIS Server.

Right click on your new web site (or the default if you have replaced that) and select properties.

All the settings I referred to are in the tabs that come up for the properties dialog

Yup, IIS Snapin, then navigate to your new site (or the default if you have replaced that) and select properties.
