Making noises when a dialog box appears?

Howaya ye!

Its something i've never done before in Java, and i don't know where to start

If i want to signal the appearance of a dialog box for example, with some sort of signal/notification sound, where do i start? Even some sort of 'beep' would do, any ideas?
