windows 98 printer install issue / mouse

I'm working on a windows 98 machine and everytime i try to install my lexmark x73 printer it puts it in the printers folder but then it disappears.  It's making registry entries so I'm not sure what the problem is.  I can install other printers and I recently had the x73 installed but it was and older driver so I removed it and tried to install the new but it just won't work.

Also.. unless I push the shift key at startup the mouse will stall for about a second every 3-4 seconds.

First thing to do:

Start > Run > type SFC and press enter

You may need your Win98 CD.

See if that restores any corrupted file and it may solve the problem.

The scanner, copy, everything else with the machine works through the computer... just not the printer.

Try reinstalling the older driver and printer software.

ah hah!  it looks like God has helped me with this one.. I just kept at it and it finally worked!  WOO!  just kept cleaning up the registry...
