HI ,

Well i have one user (xyz).NOw i made his account in the active directory including the mail account on the exchange server.(Our Exchange server is also a DC).XYZ can work very fine from here while he is on our LAN.

Now he got promoted and he got shifted to another country where we have VPN , i mean if i go in there server and ping my server IP address i get replies.

The question is why the outlook doesnt work from that country.
First of all if i try to check name in outlook it gives me "The name could not be resolved . Operation failed." and the error code 0x8004011c.

Now just to tell you , i can ping my exchaneg server IP addrerss from XYZ notebook but if i write the name of the server to ping it doesnt work.It means it cannot resolve it to IP.(DNS issue)
In that site they have there own domain controller and domain.
Is there any way he can access my exchange server and use outlook

This is known by Microsoft:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];830355

There's a hotfix, but you have to contact MS Support Services to get it; there's no listed download and nothing (yet) in WinUpdate. The way the Q-doc is worded, they haven't tested the fix to see what else it breaks.

Cheers,
woof.

Hi,

Well i solved the problem by myself.
If we create the entries in the hosts file for the exchange server than it works perfectly.

but the entry should be something like this

192.168.0.201 exchange.xyz.com  exchange

and make sure you dont change extension of the hosts file and save it also in the same format.

thanks a lot
