New printer found on every xp startup
Hi,
I have been getting 2 "found new hardware" windows on windows starting both saying a new printer has been found. Similar to the problem found on the link below.
https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/20704226/I-keep-getting-a-Found-New-Hardware-mesage-on-each-boot-there-is-none-and-I-can't-correct-the-problem.html
I've asked HP for help, but that hasn't led to a solution. I've tried deleting the registry key
Hkey_Local_Machine\System\ CurrentCon trolSet\\E num\Lptenu m
but my HP Deskjet 990Cxi is detected along with the two windows saying a new printer has been found, when I reboot.
My printer is working fine, it's just annoying having these windows appear every time for no reason. I am connecting through a parallel cable.
Thanks in advance for any help.

This helps solve a very annoying problem I've had for a couple of months and have had no joy in finding a solution to elsewhere. Experts exchange seems to have the answer to everything ;-)
In case anyone was wondering what the solution is;
"GO INTO DEVICE MANAGER
GO TO VIEW
SELECT SHOW HIDDEN DEVICES
CLICK THE PLUS SIGN NEXT TO PRINTERS....
IS THEIR AN EXCLAMATION POINT ? if so select properties check and see what it says
TRY SELECTING DISABLE from the properties of it OR SELECT UNINSTALL SEE IF THE PRINTER STILL WORKS... "
as quoted from the above post.
