"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You have to have your boot disk. If it were simple to just waltz around a password there wouldnt be much point in setting one in the first place. Boot disk, or call Apple.

If the G4 is set to login automatically as an administrator, you can go into the Accounts pane of System Preferences and create a new admin account. Then log in as that new account that you created and change the password for your original admin account.
