Adobe After effects or Abobe primer Q - Frame reordering in a video

Hello,

I have a video. I cannot get the original source of the video. When my friend encoded the video, the order of the frames got messed up. After I analysed the video frame by frame in my software, I noticed the frames were swapped, probably due to a buggy encoder.

So for example, if the original frame order was numbered 1,2,3,4.....10 after encoding this order would be
2,1,4,3,6,5,8,7,10,9

The problem is that this is not a 10 frame video. The video is about 5 hrs long and this definately cannot be done manually. Does anyone a Adbobe after effects script or Adobe premier action that can correct this?

Any help will be greatly appreciated as this is a fairly imp video and currently it looks extremely bad while playing it back.

Very very doubtful youll find something thatll do that. It almost sounds like you got interlaced video and your player doesn't play well with interlacing. What player are you using? Can you try it in QuickTime?

Well, actually I did solve the problem. It turned out that the codec I had got was programmed by some Mcdonnald monkey. After downloading the right codec it started working fine! On a different note, I ended up finding a software capable of swapping frames in any combination AND DOING much much more. Open source to that. It involves a small scripting language, but since I am more from a programming background that is ok. For the record, the software was called AviSynth and you ca use this along with another s/w called VirualDubMod ( NOT VirtualDub ) Anyway, spent my whole Sunday doing this, but it was worth it. Learned a lot today :-) Cheers
