Try Ad-Aware (http://www.lavasoft.de) to automatically remove it:

1. Run a full system scan (description: http://www.lavahelp.com/howto/fullscan/index.html)
2. Once the scan has finished: Mark all detected items and delete them.
3. Reboot your computer.
4. Run a full system scan again.

Run AdAware in SCAN MODE -- to get a quick idea of how bad things are. Don't try to uninstall anything at this point unless you're absolutely sure you know what you're doing.
The link for AdAware download is:

Run Spybot. Make sure you utilize the "Update" and "Immunize" functions bundled with the utility.
The link for Spyware is:

You need to run Shredder as well. It's download link is:

These should do it if they are updated and then ran.
I also found this information which lists other options for removal.

Once you have the software tools in place you are much less likely to encounter this issue again.
Good luck! David
